For the seven members of the Wired Bike Team, Tuesday’s inaugural ride proved daunting but far from insurmountable. Besides the fact they’re completely devoted to road cycling, they’re also riding some of the sweetest equipment and apparel they’ve ever adorned. In fact, every bike here is more or less a replica of bikes that’ll be featured in this year’s Tour de France: Cervelo, Specialized, Pinarello, Trek, Scott, Giant, and Cannondale. The Subaru Outback that transported our nine review bikes here from San Francisco had an aggregate value easily topping $130,000 once the Yakima racks were fully loaded. Once they arrived and kitted up, it was time to hit the road.
